All these features need to be situated within societies increasingly preoccupied with crime, risk and insecurity. Media is a prominent source of shaping our knowledge and opinions around crime. Media studies are a prominent sub discipline with criminology. What we understand about worlds of crime if learned experience we get through media, so it is the disconnect we see. These representations are often distorted compared to what actually happens in the real world- miseducating us a bit.
