Celebrates wizarding world for its non-conformity and difference. Everything about hogwarts is old- harry finds it enchanting. Harry has to buy commodities for school- conflicts argument that wizarding world is away from consumer culture. Gringotts looks like a temple of finance- like old world, values money and consumerism. At heart, the wizarding world has same values as real world. Like oz and kansas- similar to each other, but oz is an enhanced version of kansas. Not really that different from the real world as some people think. Olivander"s- insistence on each wand being different, and each wand responding to uniqueness of each person- buying the wand is more than an act of consumption. Wands are gendered in a heteronormative way- e. g. mother has small, swishy wand, dad has big wand- not that different from world of. Buys whole trolley of candy but shares it with ron- so a bit greedy but not the same as dudley.
