That condition of mind which expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment and is assessed. Objective is to provide thermal conditions to building occupants such that the fraction of dissatisfied. Thermal comfort people is at a minimum. An angle-factor weighted average of all surface temperatures that surround the occupant. Imbalances (i. e. , super-hot ceiling), aka radiant temperature asymmetry also causes discomfort, but this is not accounted for in the simple one or two-node model. The thermal load is the surplus or deficit of heat generation (i. e. , negative means net heat loss; positive means net heat gain) Localized and subtle causes of thermal discomfort: Easy-to-use moveable shading with very low visible transmittance. Allow deep penetration (window geometry, wall and furniture geometry, reflective surfaces) Keep windows above workplane (pretty useless below) Daylight autonomy (da) is defined as the fraction time of any surface in a building (a point) when prescribed lighting levels are met by daylight alone.
