Alberta badlands: the region in canada with the most evidence of dinosaurs. Hoodoos: pillars in alberta badlands with concretionized sedimentary layers on the top which is also resistant to erosion. Floodplain channels: meandering rivers/streams switching water beds over time. Stratified water column: when 2 types of water with complete different parameters merge together there is a barrier that is created between the 2 types of water. This barrier cuts off an immense amount of oxygen supply to deep sea marine life. Earth is subdivided into 7 major lithospheric. Oceanic crust: crust that lies underneath the ocean. Continental crust: crust that is not covered by the sea. Diverging: when 2 plates are moving away from each other. Colliding/ convergent: when 2 plates move toward each other, colliding. When plates come together, they are active margins. Oceanic crust always goes underneath the continental crust. Island arch systems: when oceanic crust meets oceanic crust.
