Probable ad other disorders are present but they are not considered cause of dementia. Instruments used: mini mental state exam, mini assessment of cognition. Domain specific tests are specific to certain types of dementia. Patients with ad exhibit either anterograde episodic or autobiographical memory loss. Patients with ad are impaired on these tests and usually show impairment early on. Is forgetting happens because they are unable to encode and retrieve the memories properly. Patients have a hard time naming the objects. They used broad general words for large amounts of objects. Example: animals= they will call all tigers, cats. Over 50% of dementia cases are diagnoses in primary care high income countries. 90% of people may be undiagnosed in poor counties. Because they believe it is just normal, family members didn"t notice anything, thought it would go away or symptoms came and went. Doctors also have a lack of knowledge, time, tools, confidence or availability of specialists.
