Firing squads: round up people in ghetto, psychologically damaging for shooters, bigger jewish population than expected, final solution implemented 1942 concentration/death camps, comb germany from east to west. Men sent to eastern ghettos to wipe out jews. Lecture 17/18 war & rebuilding: alcohol, first time, given option not to participate but, didn"t want to look weak, need to be strong ; defensive actions, justify as military necessity. Women sent to the east (poland: help native germans already there separate from poles, teachers, caretakers, racist motherliness only toward germans, created safe haven in genocide, women who accompanied men to death camps. Honorary men exceptional, didn"t change overall view. Total war-economy & government devoted to war effort.
