Self-reported health status: most often used in developed countries of participants 15 years old or older. Cons: can be very subjective and can make comparisons between countries and cultures very difficult. **trend: japan ranked lowest on self reported health status but highest on life expectancy. The us has a huge income gap disparity. Subtrend: countries with large gaps between rich and poor tend to have lower rates on health reports compared to other countries. Definition of health: a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease. Allows you to adapt to your environment and achieve/satisfy ones needs. Health is not a static concept; many factors can change it both individually and as a population. Prevalence= number of everybody who has a certain illness in a time frame. Incidence= number of new cases of that illness occur. Leading cause of death in the world is cardiovascular diseases.
