Health systems- all the activities whose primary purpose is to promote, restore or maintain health. Primary care- refers to first-contact care, in which the majority of health problems are treated, nations with strong primary care seem to have better health (er rooms, family doctors) Primary health care- a broader concept, includes health promotion, disease prevention and population level public health functions. Secondary care- medical care provided by a specialist or facility upon referral by a primary care physician (cardiologists, urologists, dermatologists, physio) Tertiary care- specialized consultative care usually on referral from a primary or secondary medical care personal, by specialists working in a center that has personnel and facilities for special investigation and treatment (cancer management, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery) Who"s five elements to achieving better health: reducing exclusion and social disparities, in health (universal coverage, organizing services around people"s needs and expectations, pursuing collaborative models of policy dialogue.
