Sharing of grief can lead to social movements like what happened to the mother at the plaza de mayo. Mothers were middle class women with children who were normally affiliated to political opponents of the junta. Membership would fall after acts of repression due to fear. They did not want other members of their family or themselves to disappear. Numbers would increase again when confidence, fortitude would come back. The women wore white scarfs to identify themselves in public. It later became one of their popular symbols. They wanted to find out what happened to their children. Thye wanted to create a more just and equal system. They took on the goals and objectives that their children had before disappearing. Government accused them of causing economical problems in the country. These criticisms were used by the government and media to undermine their cause. They were creating some ad hominin attacks in order to trry and invalidate their arguments.
