Renamed show moondog"s rock and roll party & pitched r&b to white teens. Relocated to nyc & promoted live r&r dances. Realized that consumers loved his sound so he expanded the business into a record label which, in 1952, became sun records. Claimed to always be on the lookout for young white artists who could play r&b. Open minded in terms of musical style. Enjoyed hymns & gospel, country, r&b, and tpa pop. At 18 yrs old in 1853, he went to sun records and recorded himself singing 2 pop songs for his mom"s bday. Sam phillips didn"t likely see his potential at first because elvis wasn"t called back for another session until the next year and mostly because marion keisker, the secretary, urged sam to call him back in.
