Document Summary

If a person cannot afford a lawyer, they can be assigned a defense attorney by the country. Many do not have the option to choose from an option of different attorneys, usually being assigned to one and needing to work with them alone. Legal aid: free legal advice or representation for a person who cannot afford it, provided and funded by the government. If you"ve been accused of a criminal offense, you have the right to defend/represent yourself (not wise to do it yourself). If you don"t have the means financially to get an attorney, one can be assigned to you. Two major approached to delivering this system of services: judicare: services provided for the provisions of certain types of legal services in exchange for a set fee. Similar to healthcare: legal services model: provides things like legal advice, tax/estate planning, preparing documents etc.
