Who decided to entrench the constitutional rights protection to canada! Bill of rights ( 1960)- piece of legislation , not entrenched in the constitution! Established that it would be possible to say that other legislation past by parliament could intervene these laws and therefore not be valid! Gov"t was not comfortable with using one piece of legislation to overturn other legisla- tion! Bliss case was a good example of this! A women who was pregnant applied for unemployment insurance and she was denied because she did not have enough weeks of work to qualify for the bene ts. The prob- lem was that way the cat as set up at the time there was different standard of how long you have to qualify for regular bene ts v. how long to qualify for pregnant bene- Supreme court of canada denied her case!
