Canadian police agencies originate way back to early eng society. There was regular police force prior to the 11th c. Concerned ciizens of an area were the ones who handled jusice vicims had to deal w/ the perpetrators w/o assistance of the state. There was no court syst at the ime. Closest thing to police agency in its ime. Every person was resp for assising neighbours and protecing the village from criminals. Groups of ten fams were set up in each village to setle minor probs (iings) Move away from ppl taking care of themselves to a professionalizaion. At this point policing is no separate from the community. Ten things were grouped into an even larger group called a hundred . The afaires from a hundred were looked ater by a constable, who dealt w/ more serious law violaions. Constable considered to be the irst real police oicer. The hundreds were amalgamated into shires (equivalent to mod day countries)
