Self-defense applies to you, as well in protection of a third person, and property violations. Same principles apply (proportionality, must be significant harm, etc). Consent: reasonable people can participate in fights that they consent to. Green"s stick, and caused it to ricochet into green"s head. He calls on self-defence, saying he was repelling green, but is thrown out because his level of violence went beyond hockey. The court found the players all consent to the risks and hazards of the sport, and the consent is technically implied: jobidon v. the queen- jobidon hit haggart after a night of drinking, and they consented to fight. Jobidon knocked haggart out with a single hit, but then hit him 4- This put haggart into a coma, which he died from. The scc said you can consent to a fight, but you cannot consent to bodily harm or death.
