The second part of the course deals with the criminal justice system. The crown attorney does the prosecutions in the province. In canada all our crown attorneys are state officials. In two provinces were the crown lays charges are quebec and british columbia. For the other provinces the police issue the charges. We can"t convict people just of the basis of law . this was abolished in the 1990"s. All criminal law is not in the criminal code. Only one offence is not codified or put in the legislature- indictable offence. You can"t be charge with an offence in canada if it is not in the criminal and provincial codes. Indictable offences last for 20 years and over.
