Because we are interested in rules of conduct, for ex: predictable behavior, enforceable.
The major advantages of law are that it provides stability, you know there is predictability

Karl Marx: his theory of how the state works is based off how society worked in a capitalist
society. The bourgeoisie, one percent, the people that n property or the means of production. If
they need labor they buy it. The proletariat are the working class, people who have to labor for
a living because they do not own the means of production. Petite bourgeoisie, own capital but
have to work their capital in order to make money from it. there are in the middle btw these

The state has three key functions
To have a state we need to have people. We need some territorial basis. A defined space. A
state of regulated by an administrative and legal order claiming to monopolize the legitimate
use of force. There are some laws that allow use of violence but they will evaluate you. There is
someone ability for someone to defend themselves. People are also allowed to kill during war.
