Parliament of canada consists of; the crown, the senate, and the house of commons. Canada"s government was created by the constitution act in 1867. Canada is a parliamentary democracy which means that its system of government holds that the law is the supreme authority. Although there is only one parliament of canada, the responsibility for lawmaking is shared among one federal, ten provincial and three territorial governments. Canada has a representative system of government in the sense that the power to enact laws is vested in legislature composed of individuals selected to represent the canadian people (by democratic vote). The federal legislature is bicameral meaning it has two deliberative houses; an upper house (senate) and a lower house (the house of commons): senate: composed of individuals appointed by the governor general to represent. Canada"s provinces and territories: house of commons: elected by canadians who are eligible to vote.
