Video 1- intro to international law 1: sources of international law. What is international law (il: laws governing how states cooperate. Different types of cooperation: (1) national- interactions are dealt with as if the states were individuals making contracts (2) transnational- movement of peoples between states (3) international- how states interrelate. Sources of il (article 38(1) of the statute of the international court of justice (icj: treaty (multilateral or bilateral)- written agreements, custom- unwritten rules made by state practice over time, general principles of law.
