Concerned with the prevention of accidents and disease and with the deterrence and penalization of those who violate occupational health and safety standards. There is a difference between workers compensation and occupational health and safety. The latter simply attempts to prevent all injuries in the workplace. This is the core of workplace safety, spreads the responsibility to everyone in the workplace. Everyone has a legal obligation to ensure that the workplace is safe. Worker: anyone who is paid to complete a task. Employer: anybody who directs people and compensates with pay.
