The role of the media focuses primarily on the criminal. Valorize criminals and more often then not ignore victims (media) Victimology came from understanding the other half of the equation understanding the victim. Victims are now more and more being placed at the centre of an investigation in the criminal justice process. Analysis of the victim is even more practical to the question of the criminal. We study victimology as a science to look at the many layers as to why this person has experienced being a victim and what being a victim is all about how society classifies and chooses his/her victims. Study of victimization well established only in the last 20-30 years that we have been studying victims in social science. Victims of genocide (rwandan genocide), victims of natural disaster etc . Broaden our scope of who the victim is by looking at recent events. Victims of crimes of injustice: people that are wrongly convicted of a crime.
