Many people tried to make this process of printing music more efficient. Antico had the privilege to be the only printer in rome (antico then moved to venice) Short lived because of other progress in music printing. Experimented with single impression printing: staff lines, notes and text all printed at once. He only made a few examples, and then the french stole his idea and made a lot of money from it. First to seriously use single impression printing for music. Privilege to print in france as the only printer. Chansons nouvelles: 4 voice songs, april 1527. Parisian composers featured in his prints: claudin de sermisy, clement janequin. Alignment of the staff lines often had a bumpy look: some lines were slightly higher or slightly disjointed from others. Ignored the privilege of attaignant and printed anyways. Published motetti del fiore / motets of flowers. Gardane (french) moved to italy and changed his name to gardano (italian)
