Document Summary

Stressors are stimuli that challenge the body"s homeostasis and trigger a response. Psychological thought of exam or financial worries. Daily stressors may have a significant impact on health. If a stimulus causes stress, it can be a considered a stressor times, when daily hassles are inescapable. We have many stressors in this time of life and in response to that the body just gets sick. The stress response involves two separate pathways. The sam axis is the fast pathway it is what mediates the initial alarm phase of the stress response. The hpa axis is the slow pathway it mediates the resistance phase and involves adaptions involved in dealing with prolonged stress. There are two steps to activate sam: neural circuits in the hypothalamus project to the spinal cord, where they synapse and activate neurons of the sympathetic nervous system, sns neurons project to the adrenal glands. The adrenal medulla releases the catecholamines epinephrine and norepinephrine into circulation.
