Form template that you put into memory (computer) For each persons form you put it in to see if it matches memory. Can recognize all people as people even though there is many variations in what a person can look like. E. g. writing many different ways to write the letter a can"t hve a perfect template for every template strict match. Simple patterns of light location specific edge, slit, line looked at single cell recording of visual cortex in cats were able to classify different types of cells. Same as simple, but not location specific. There is converging behavioural and neuro evidence showing that pattern recognition involves processing of features. Conclusion there is both behavioral and physiological evidence that are brais are set up to recognize things based on features.
