Class 3  Atomic – a statement not containing other statements The sun is shining. Harry loves Jim. Xian is going to the movies. Elizabeth is Canada’s head of state.  Pragmatic theory: what makes a statement true or false, and how accepting it gets us.  Molecular­ contain other statements that go into what makes it up The sun is shining and my shirt is blue. Harry loves Jim or Fred does.  If Xian is going to the movies, then so am I. Elizabeth is not the U.S.’s head of state.  Logical Operator: a word/ phrase in a molecular statement that indicates how the truth  values of the statement(s) it contains lead to the overall truth value of the molecular  statement.  Conjunction: and A And  B True True True True True False False False True False False False Disjunction: Or A Or B True True True True True False False True True False False False I
