When somebody has a preconceived notion that influences what they look at. Political science, political scientists can declare their political views. Hypothesis: a statement that needs to researched. Assumption: when a statement is assumed to be true logically. Bias: when the statement is deemed true without research. *remember to look at both sides of an argument. Didn"t think democracy was possible if capitalism was present. Agreed that capitalism encouraged scientific discovery & creativity but didn"t think that it was a stagnant system. Saw capitalism as a stage in history. Under communism, workers will no longer need to work hard for a good life. Capitalists will always dominate politics because of their money and power. Peasants had no political opinion on their own, believed revolution needed to come from workers. Religion (opium for the people), nationalism, patrionism would be obsolete. Hoevwer, there was only one party, lenin deemed it was unnecessary for more parties. Basic idea was developed in 19th century.
