Electoral systems: how we turn votes into seats in parlaiment. If majority rule comes in you would take a second vote with less choices. Not always fair, does not reflect choices of minorities. 3 components of electoral system: electoral formula: how you decide who wins (ours is plurality, district magnitude: number of representatives chosen from district (1, ballot structure: what does ballot look like and what voters are supposed to do. We do not always have a mp in every district!!! Our system tends to produce a majority government without majority vote!! Some people say that the majority government system we have is a strength some people say it is a weakness. The only way you get to parliament is getting the most votes in district. You also need to convince people to vote for you if you are small party!!!!
