Hobbes new science of politics constructs and absolute and unlimited power; to which all men owe obedience without question. The commonwealth is the authorized and representative power of each and everyone combined into a new and original totality. All jurisdiction and delegated authority flows from a unified source (the sovereign: any preexisting law only need to be guaranteed if its going to be part of constitutional law (only real law comes from the sovereign) Calls it a god about shock and awe (terrorizing you out of your selfish behavior into this social contract: about this voluntary transfer of power. All men are by nature moved by their passions; they contend for all things and are incapable of self-control; they require an external power. Natural right is equated with natural liberty as the absence to all limit and impediment to the natural passions of each for everything.
