Genetics, biology, neuroscience, social psychology, clinical psychology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, psychodynamic psychology, etc. One of the main areas of focus in personality psychology is the study of traits. Traits are characteristics that describe ways in which people differ from each other. Traits can also be thought of as describing the average tendencies of a person. If we look in the dictionary, there are 20,000 trait terms. Out of these 20,000 terms, a lot of them are synonyms for each other.
