(w. h. o. , 1948) Developing our understanding of psychological influences on how people stay healthy, why they become ill, and how they respond when they do get ill. Fields where it is both research against illness, but also an applied field where they promote well-being and how to help people overcome illness (ex will tell city more green space will mean more healthier and happier citizens) Health promotion and maintenance (maintain that thing) of health. Etiology (underlying cause) and correlates of health, illness, and dysfunction. The improvement of the healthcare system and the formulation of health policy. Social (how social relations can be a buffer or a risk factor to illness) Stress is a subjective feeling produced by events perceived as uncontrollable and threatening (stressors)
