In psychological research, there are ways in which we evaluate the quality of our experiments/ studies. Degree to which a measure provides consistent of results. Test-retest reliability similar results over time taking the same iq test a year later you should get roughly the same results. Internal consistency reliability items assessing the same construct - Degree to which test measures what it claims to measure. Convergent validity measure related to other measures assessing similar construct. Measuring happiness you want to make sure your results are similar to other happiness tests. Discriminant validity measure unrelated to measures assessing different construct e(cid:454). Construct validity measure is measuring what it is supposed to be measuring (broadest type of validity) Internal validity: ensuring that nothing other than the predictor(x) affect changes in the criterion variable (y) High internal validity nothing other than x will predict y.
