Social psychology: the study of how thoughts feelings and behaviors can be shaped and shape others/ourselves. Though many would think that you may get less wet by running through the rain. How can we apply social psychology: we can solve social problems such as hostility, prejudice or relationships, application within our daily lives: Pushing children to compete in order to have them ready on time. Visiting a restaurant where the waitress is charming/nice, hence you give them a greater tip at the end of the meal. The power of situation: the tendency to overestimate the extent to which people"s behaviour stems from internal factors and underestimate the role of external factors. Example: a waitress in a bad mood is than attributed to be a horrible bitchy person. Subjective construction of reality: our social environments are constructed by our own perception. These perceptions can differ based on the construal. Motivation: the desire to feel better about oneself.
