Histogram: shows you how frequently something occurs. Drawback: can"t see a relationship and doesn"t tell you how or why it is related to other variables. Negative relation: think inverse (one goes up, other goes down and vice versa) Have to look at research with a critical eye. Correlation does not indicate causation: just because an association is found between variables, doesn"t mean one causes another, directionality problem (bidirectional relationship don"t know which direction it is and which variable is causing the other) Used to determine causality whether one variable causes another. Want to indicate a variable is caused by another (x is causing y) Must have : manipulation of variables (random assignment)
