Factors effect how well a possible witness is able to recall the information they took witness to. The information is coded into your short term and possibly long term memory. However not all information will pass through both memory stages. Retrieval of information can be done either by: Recall memory: reporting information that occurred in a previously witnessed event. Recognition memory: being able to determine weather a person or item is the same as what you currently saw: ex: police photo line up, identifying a perpetrators voice.
