Out of the 20 suspects, you need to see who to look at first. The offender profiling can start eliminating characteristics from the suspect pool based on the crime they analysed: new lines of enquiry. Most investigators don"t investigate homicides or certain types of crime so they need to find a way in order to solve the crime. More experienced profilers provide support and suggestion to investigators. They advise them to do certain things for each individuals in order to see if they will break. Interview strategies: predict dangerousness, flush out offender. The history of profiling: jack the ripper: first documented case where investigators used profiling. Still has not been solved: the psychological profiling of hitler, mad bomber: the accuracy of the profile. Russel said how the offender will be dressed when he gets arrested and he was very accurate when the offender got arrested and since then the profiling went viral.
