Document Summary

Pharmacokinetics: the time course of a particular drug"s actions. Maximum concentration: when a drug peaks in your body. Minimum concentration: at it"s lowest once it metabolizes. Therapeutic range: must figure out the minimum amount to see a difference in each individual (minimally effective concentration), and how much is too much (toxicity level) goldilocks. Liquid vs tablet: liquid gels does not get absorbed much faster. Passive diffusion: when you take a drug orally, no energy is required to get into your blood, it just passes through your system into your blood stream, (area of high concentration to area of low concentration). Eventually gets to brain: metabolized by gi tract of liver (first-pass metabolism) One of the fastest ways to get drugs into body. Absorbed through mucosal membrane and moves directly into bloodstream. Provides continuous controlled release absorbed through epidermis directly into bloodstream. Kinda like a strainer (big or small holes, controlled) Unable to respond to unexpected reaction: must use sterile techniques.
