A set of basic beliefs (or metaphysics) that deals with ultimates or first principles. It represents a worldview that defines, for its holder, the nature of the "world," the individual"s place in it, and the range of possible relationships to that world and its parts, as, for example, cosmologies and theologies do. The beliefs are basic in the sense that they must be accepted simply on faith. i. e. cannot be proven which is right or wrong: paradigms, epistemologies or philosophies of science, post-positivism: > leadsto collecting data from specific people and situations: top down approach, believes researchers can be relatively objective, sometimes use qualitative data, feminist criticism, mostly men are running and involves in studie leading to sexist biases, social constructionism. Qualitative if necessary, ideally in miced methods research: goal, tp closely aproximte the truth , feminist empiricists, eliminating sexist biases from the research process.
