Goals for today"s class : chapter 7: anxiety disorders. The nature of anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, panic disorder, generalized. Anxiety disorder, phobias, ocd, hoarding, adjustment disorders, acute stress. Disorders: major depressive, dysthymic, bipolar, cyclothymic: main goal for these chapters focus on key diagnostic symptomatology & examples. From the text : chapter 7: anxiety disorders. In order to help keep these disorders organized, you will want to focus on differential diagnosis (and we will spend time in class helping with this too) For the different disorders, how effective have different treatments/therapies been: chapter 9: mood disorders. What are the key features of each type? (we will help with this in class) Behavioural: note experiencing nonpathological levels of anxiety and depression at some point in one"s life is a common occurrence. Fear is the emotional response to real or perceived imminent threat.
