Is it important to study/understand/critique media: so, we don"t just take facts as is, another reason it influence our social behavior. It can pinpoint or call out politicians for spending to much money. In what ways can we say that the media is powerful": ideology, linked to ideas and the way we think. Our belief systems and people in it : ideology is a relatively coherent set of interrelated beliefs about society, e. g. Liberal ideology the idea that it is solely because of an individual"s actions and efforts that create success or failure: e. g. Police shows worlds wildest police chases": construction of meaning - war on crime" and necessary response to criminal actions. Reinforce the idea of the criminals who need to be captured. In these shows and through the narrative the police actions are always justified, never problematic. Like in law and order they engender and make it look like their actions are always justified.
