Allows for creating own version of role ( own style"- adlibbed, within social limits) Same, a lot, total rejection, mostly normative. More important - played often, same way. Role implied by social self- no vacuuming. Merry go round, santa claus, easter bunny (goffman) Age 4- perceived= implied social self, do it. Ignored, dismissed or played for good of group. Roles are situation-specific, with leakages (how role made most revealing) Never a perfect fit, we always let something out.
