A social group that shares a set of characteristics or experiences based on their location / role in the economy. These shared characteristics shape / limit kinds of power individual members of that class as wells as the class have access to: Laws and policies are shaped from people who hold higher power. Class is also a social relationship in which some people have power over others and which results in various kinds of inequality. Class as income - most dominant way to define class. One"s class is defined by the amount of income one earns. People who earn roughly the same amount of income are in the same class. The more money you have the more power you have to consume more and better thing. What you buy or can afford indicates your class position. Class mobility is achieved through greater power earnings. One"s class position is indicated by the level of social prestige associated with one"s occupation.
