One"s class is defined by the amount of income one earns. People who earn roughly the same amount of income are in the same class. The more money you have the more power you have to consume more and better thing. What you buy or can afford indicates your class position. Class mobility is achieved through greater power earnings. One"s class position is indicated by the level of social prestige associated with one"s occupation.
