4 broad categories (regressive, reform, revolution, counterrevolution) The role of social media and technology. Social change: any significant modification in the way social activities & human relationships are organized. Tipping point: where a once rare practice snowballs into everyday life; these changes go largely unnoticed or are dismissed as insignificant until a critical phase is reached that tips the scale in a dramatic way. Elements of change: objective: the real, material conditions of capitalism, subjective: the way we, as humans, act on and change such conditions. Often, personal problems are shared by others social issue. Individual change seeking social change by changing your own behavior. Political parties getting involved in political parties to seek reform. Civil society groups organizing collectively as concerned citizens around a particular issue. Activist groups organizing collectively to seek structural, radical changes in society; radical relating to or affecting the fundamental nature of something.
