Sociology is a multi-perspective and multi-method discipline. Strength that it allows for such a broad range. Social realities and the social world is a multi dimensional phenomenon. There is no one best method, there are advantages and disadvantages to every method that you can look at. The main thing that chooses your method is the type of question that you ask. You are trying to research an answer to your question. Ex. changes in suicide rates from 2000-2016. Ex. the experiences of inmates within federal prisons. You can conduct interviews to learn about people"s experiences. Survey the people who watch the news. Your method must be framed by the theory that you use.
