Very complex has different methodologies, levels of analysis, and several theoretical perspectives. Derived from the latin word socius (companion) and the greek word logos (speech or reason). Society: a group of people whose members interact, reside in a definable area, and share a culture. Culture: a groups shared practices, values, beliefs, norms, and artifacts. Symbolic interaction (micro-sociology): dynamics of face to face interactions, research conducted with specific individuals- ie: family, friends, partners, ect, meaning and interpretation of social action/behaviour between individuals, how to behave and what to expect from a social situation. Macro-sociology: large scale, society-wide, social interactions, dynamics of classes or whole societies that include communication structures, ethnic divisions, and spread of patterns. Critical sociology: using critiques (analysis and assessment), look at inequalities and forms of domination. George simmel: interactions between specific individuals at any one time. Ideology> macro level processes are in fact nothing more than the sum of all unique.
