Compare and contrast modernization theory and dependency theory. Industrialization means feeding people who no longer make their own food. Famine gets a lot of media coverage in comparison to endemic hunger. Media coverage of famine distorts reality of hope. 15-30 million people died in china during famine in 1958-1961. Independent sovereign government are more responsible for preventing famine. 2 million people die per year in india because of hunger. Causes diabetes, cancer, chromes, chronic and non-infectious diseases. Indian government couldn"t sell to other countries make profit or give to their population for nothing because it would kill the economy. In britain people throw away 20 billion dollars" worth of food. People are being priced out of the markets. Parents have provided a moral obligation to give food to kids. This is slowing decreasing; only 3% of canadians are farmers. Obtain wages through labor marker and get food you want. Economic system makes no distinction between necessity and commodities.
