Bulk of the work does not involve law enforcement. Purpose is to gain control of the situation. (i. e. dealing with crowd control) How to differentiate between someone with a mental illness or someone who is intoxicated. When the melt downs occur, you may have a case where a police officer might act out of line (somebody dies) and what follows is law suits. Police are hotwired to shoot anything that moves (even partner). Interactions between civilians and police situations that could have been handled differently (are police in the wrong?) Interpersonal violence is brought up (police vs public and public vs police) Police first we get control, then we ask questions . Scenario in february 2012 mentally ill man walks away from the hospital in his hospital gown, walks into a convince store and grabs two scissors. Gets into an argument with store manager and cuts him accidently.
