Control theorists: can"t have a crime if there is no punishment. Your rights do not trump everyone else"s in your community. Social deviance: what behaviours can we change, have a set agenda to try and control your behaviour, use penalties, education, concept of shaming (braithway"s theory) All laws in canada must be vetted by the department of justice. Control theorist believe in this principle that behaviour must be controlled and punished. Anomie strain theory and social learning theory will situate the issue within social structure within social restrictions. Why are people conformists: social deviance=social control, social deviance=social conformity, social deviance has a very positive definition-depending on your definition-anyone who is different and or unique are by definition deviant. When it comes to enacting any kind of law, you have to take into account how people are going to respond.
