Surette explains that media presents a narrow, short lived point of view of crime and this in turn gives the public a distorted version of the reality of crime. Different type of media (infotainment, entertainment, advertising and news) Compares the media to police in the way that they define crime. They use an objective legalistic approach to crime. Media only gives you a small, narrow picture. You don"t get info about the context or entire situation. Only told that a crime took place and that is all.
