Politics in canada include: federal politics, provincial politics, municipal politics, school boards, and etc. We appoint deputy ministers, judges and band chiefs. The federal government is responsible for distributing tax monies to the provinces, including setting the terms and conditions for receiving that funding. The provincial and territorial governments are responsible for setting social policy in their jurisdictions. Municipal governments play a role in funding, managing and operating housing, public health, social assistance, and other portfolios, but it depends on the context. The views that the conservative party holds today: Lower taxes, especially for corporations. (cid:862)traditio(cid:374)al(cid:863) (cid:448)alues (maintaining historical values) It has meant increasing the depth of poverty and more poverty; more familial stress around children, the frail elderly and others who need daily support; less advocacy; changing climate for social workers. There has been more privatization, private sectors and for-profit work. Ideology: a specific set of ideas about how best to operate a society economically, socially and politi(cid:272)ally.
