Diversity: refers to the characteristics such as race, culture, ability, age, gender and sexual orientation. All of which can affect your access to opportunity and resources: different people in canada occupy different statuses and social locations in realtion to the state and its policies, therefore they become social categories within social policy. What is social welfare: social welfare: the well-being of society, as well as the general efforts to improve that well-being, welfare of society includes a variety of factors, such as health, environment, wealth and social participation. It is also influenced by a number of factors, such as the government, non-profit and voluntary sector, private sector, individuals and families. What is social policy: policies developed and implemented to promote the well-being of, or address specific problems in, society, can be broad (immigration policy, taxation policy) or narrow (social services, health care) Influenced by a number of things. (ex: values, status quo, group power etc. )
