Historians in the modern era believed science started in the 1500"s and sprung from no where. In the 1970"s a guy named marshall clagett discovered that galileo"s work was entirely based on his medieval predecessors: he showed that galileo was trained in medieval physics and built on it. The school system is what produced medieval physics. Medieval schoolmen were aware of ancient science and built upon it: *there is a continuous transmission of science; therefore, modern physics is founded upon the principles of ancient physics, *modern medicine continues ancient medicine. Science starts off as natural philosophy (greek: philopshiae naturae = physis= physical: philosophy in the physical world; not ethics or politics. Physical world includes: biology, physics, geometry, grammar and arithmetic. Fields of scientific study were named by aristotle in the 4th century b. c. Persian empire was the crossroads between asia and europe. Western philosophy is descended from eastern philosophy approx.
